Food testing at FSFM is a fascinating experience! This type of food testing is called Intradermal Provocative Neutralization (IPN). Seven different foods are injected, one at a time, into the upper arm. Patients are then able to feel the symptoms that each food is causing in their daily life. Wheat, dairy and corn are the three foods that tend to cause the most symptoms, because these foods are the most prevalent in the American diet. Symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, body pain, gut upset, mood changes, asthma, and headaches can all be the result of food allergies, sometimes referred to as food sensitivities. Patients can feel better in a matter of days if they remove the sensitive food from their diet.
